Pure and Faultless
Foster Care
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
3 Ways God Demonstrates How to Care for the Vulnerable
1. God Incarnates - He moves towards us
Matthew 1:23 The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”(which means “God with us”). John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
2. God Welcomes - He makes room for us
Psalm 68:5-6 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name,he gave the right to become children of God
3. God Protects - He fights for the vulnerable
Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.
Deuteronomy 10:18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow.
"Holiness is pure with purpose. It is unpolluted so that it might be useful. Its heart is pure, but its hands are dirty - holy and helpful." - Jedd Redefined
"I could be sitting on the sidelines, in blissful ignorance of the brokenness that surrounds me, enjoying the wholeness of a sweet and sheltered life - missing out on the beauty of breaking off pieces of my heart and life to make another whole." - Jamie Finn
