Pride is considered to be the root of all of the other deadly sins. Pride is an inflated sense of self-importance that exalts the individual above God and others. It’s the root of many sins, seen as the “anti-God” state of mind.

TRASH
Pride Philippians 2:5-8
What is the biblical definition of pride?
It is the sinful elevation of self above God and others.
What is the Origin of Pride?
The origin of pride reaches back to the very throne room of heaven itself.
Ezekiel 28:17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
Isaiah 14:12-14 How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
Pride the destroyer
a. Destroys relationship with God.
James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
b. Destroys relationship with everyone.
Proverbs 13:10 Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
c. Pride destroys wise judgment.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.
d. Pride leads to ultimate destruction.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
How can I be free from Pride?
a. We must cultivate a proper view of God.
Isaiah 6:1-5 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
b. We must embrace the truth of our sinfulness and dependence.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. c. Embrace the truth of Gods mercy and love.
d. Follow Christ’s example of humility.
Philippians 2:5-8 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
e. We must actively serve others.
Mark 10:43-44 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
f. We must walk in the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.
